The crowd at Craig Morgan's sold-out show this weekend got a very patriotic surprise. During the Saturday night show (July 29th), Morgan enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve on the famous stage. General Andrew Poppas, Commander US Army Forces Command had the honor of sharing the special moment with the country singer and swore him in on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

"Opry Member Craig Morgan surprised the Saturday Night Opry by enlisting and being sworn into the U.S. Army Reserve . 🇺🇸," the historic venue wrote on Instagram the following day. "We’re so proud of you, Craig!"

“I’m excited to once again serve my country and be all I can be in hopes of encouraging others to be a part of something greater than ourselves,” Morgan said in a press release. “I love being an artist but I consider it a true privilege and honor to work with what I believe are the greatest of Americans, my fellow soldiers. God Bless America. Go Army.”

According to Country Now, Craig will be assigned to Restone Arsenal, Alabama, and received the Army’s Outstanding Civilian Service Medal and the USO Merit Awar. He's also a member of the U.S. Field Artillery Hall of Fame. Morgan previously spent seventeen years in the Army and Army Reserve with the 101st and 82nd Airborne Divisions as an E-6 Staff Sergeant and Fire Support Specialist, per Country Now.
