Darius Rucker is one of four inductees set for the Music City Walk of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee.
The South Carolina-born country star said on Wednesday (September 6) that he’s “honored to join the amazing names on the Music City Walk of Fame.” Other inductees include singer-songwriter Don McLean, guitarist Duane Eddy and former record label executive Joe Galante. The group will receive the 101st, 102nd, 103rd and 104th stars on the Music City Walk of Fame during the induction ceremony next month.
“Darius, Don, and Duane have not only given us the gift of their music and inspired new generations of musicians, but they have also given back generously over their career to important causes that matter to all of us” Cesar Gueikian, President and CEO of Gibson Brands, said in a statement on Wednesday. “Joe has broken boundaries all throughout his career, developed some of the most iconic Country artists of all time, and is a driving force in our community. All of us at Gibson are proud to join Music City Walk of Fame in honoring Darius, Don, Duane and Joe.”
Rucker is set to be inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame by pro wrestler Ric Flair. Connie Valens, Steve Wariner and Vince Gill will induct McLean, Eddy and Galante, respectively. Rucker is well-known for his decades-long career in music, beginning with the award-winning band Hootie & the Blowfish before he released his first-ever solo country album in 2008. His latest single is “Fires Don’t Start Themselves” from his forthcoming record, Carolyn’s Boy, named in honor of his late mother. It’s Rucker’s seventh studio album, and his first solo album in six years. The project will release on October 6.
Rucker will be inducted into the Music City Walk of Fame at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4.
