Kimberly Perry is embracing her “new life” with a new song, posting a brief snippet of an unreleased ballad days after announcing the birth of her firstborn child. The “If I Die Young Pt. 2” songstress shared the sneak peek on Instagram on Monday (September 11).

The country singer-songwriter’s next batch of music will follow her 5-track EP, Bloom, which made its debut in June. The collection included the highly-anticipated follow-up of The Band Perry’s “If I Die Young,” which Perry released with her brothers — Reid and Neil Perry — in 2010. Perry shared the extendion of that story along with “Burn The House Down,” “Cry At Your Funeral,” “Ghosts” and “Smoke ‘Em Too” on Bloom earlier this summer.

On Thursday (September 7), Perry announced that she and husband Johnny Costello welcomed their firstborn child, son Whitaker James. Perry, 40, shared the first heartwarming photos with her newborn baby as she announced that he was born on August 26 at 4:01 p.m. in Nashville, Tennessee, at 7 lbs and 8 oz. Perry said that “in one short week Johnny and I have moved from a season of BLOOM into a SUPERBLOOM. Our lives have become sweeter, our days have become so much fuller, our sleep has gotten shorter - our house has truly become a home.”

Perry added in an Instagram post — a sweet photo of her son, her husband and their dog — over the weekend that she and Costello started their family after “a handful of heartbreaks, a few false starts, and an ocean’s worth of tears between the birth of this image in my heart and this real-life, captured on film dream come true. I’ve prayed for these 3. Fought for these 3. Searched for these 3. I adore these 3. Thank you God for bringing us all into frame together. Whatever you’re hoping for - and I know hope is an elusive friend, sometimes SO hard to muster - keep on keeping on. All the beautiful things are on their way to you. I believe it because I’ve lived it.”
