Kerry Washington Family Secrets Revealed

Award winning actress Kerry Washington was shocked and hurt when she found out the man she knew as her dad, Earl Washington, wasn’t her biological father. 

Washington found out after she told her parents she was planning to appear on Henry Louis Gates Jr.’s PBS series Finding Your Roots, where DNA testing is used to learn information about a well-known people's family tree. 

Gates realizing that anything hidden would be revealed, advised the Washington's parents to tell her the secret ahead of filming after they reached out to him, and they did in 2018.
