Dustin Lynch kicked off a new era on Friday (September 29) with the release of his sixth full-length studio album, Killed The Cowboy. The 12-track project is a bold telling of Lynch’s “internal struggle” as he reaches a crossroads in his life.

Lynch, 38, is weighing whether to settle down and start a family or continue his sing life packed with “extraordinary experiences” as a hit-making singer-songwriter, notes a press release announcing Killed The Cowboy’s arrival. Lynch seeks the answer to his “stunningly self-aware questions” throughout the “statement-making” project, which follows 2022’s Blue In The Sky.

“When we wrote ‘Honky Tonk Heartbreaker,’ we thought about what could be celebrated by people in Nashville’s Broadway honky-tonk scene, or in any bar scene. It’s a message to those who are single and ready to mingle, who embrace the excitement of getting dressed up to go out and give off a vibe,” Lynch said in a statement of “Honky Tonk Heartbreaker,” one of five tracks Lynch is credited as a songwriter. “But even those who have found their person will still enjoy the song, because at some point they've been out on the prowl, enjoying the nightlife.”
