Brothers Osborne hosted many unique Thanksgiving celebrations in Nashville, Tennessee, particularly in the earlier years in Music City when they strived to build their career as an award-winning duo. The brothers, John and TJ Osborne, opened their “Misfits Thanksgiving” tradition to Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Mickey Guyton and other artists when they “didn’t have enough money” to travel back home and spend the holiday with their families.

TJ Osborne remembered, per the duo’s record label, that he and John hosted that tradition for about 15 years, beginning because they weren’t able to make it back home at the time. “Misfits Thanksgiving” led to “some of our most cherished relationships,” TJ shared.

“John and I would host what we would call a Misfits Thanksgiving, and we would have everyone, I mean we must’ve done this for 15 years or so and it really started because we didn’t have enough money to go back home to see our family, so we would hang out in Nashville,” TJ said. “And so everyone that was kind of in our same shoes, we’d all end up at our house, and it really turned into really blossoming some of our most cherished relationships. We would be there with Kacey Musgraves. It was the first time I really got to hang out with Mickey Guyton, Maren Morris. They would come over and we just became like family to each other because we couldn’t get home to see our own families. And that’s a Thanksgiving tradition that we still to this day try to keep, and it’s a revolving door of who’s there or who’s not there, but yeah, it’s a wonderful tradition.

“And let me tell you, spending it with our friends in Nashville, there’s a little less arguing than back home,” TJ quipped with a laugh, and John added, “we’re still arguing, but we get over it faster.”

Brothers Osborne recently scored another victory for Vocal Duo of the Year at the 57th CMA Awards earlier this month in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. They admitted afterward that they were “in shock” to win the award again, and pledged to cherish these moments, particularly after being in Nashville for “well over a decade” before landing their record deal, and knowing that “at some point, it [award nominations] will pass.”

“It’s amazing. I feel very grateful. I mean, he and I are so alike but so different in all the right ways. It’s very yin and yang, and I feel grateful that we have each other,” John said backstage that night, and TJ added: “To have someone, my brother, alongside me, getting to experience these really ineffable things. It’s really, really cool.”
