Listen: Gabby Barrett Speaks About Her Faith, Marriage, Motherhood & More

Gabby Barrett spoke about the significance of her faith, her marriage, her family and more — though “tons of people” have cautioned her to avoid “ruining [her] career” by discussing those areas of her life so openly — in a new episode of Unexpected with Hannah Love.

Host Hannah Love Mooney — married to Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney — shared that she was “so thrilled” to sit down with her “sweet friend,” Barrett, on the latest episode of her podcast on Monday (December 18). The faith-based podcast has also featured a two-part interview with Shay, in addition to other conversations and stories since the podcast’s premiere in April 2022.

Hannah shared a clip of her conversation with Barrett on Instagram on Monday morning, hailing the “Glory Days” star a “Multi- Platinum artist, dedicated wife and mother to almost 3!” On the podcast, Barrett speaks with Hannah about “her journey of faith, how she met her husband, and how she navigates her career as a new mom.” The conversation “is full of beautiful perspective on balance and purpose,” Hannah said.

“God sets boundaries in his own character and in the Bible,” Barrett said in the clip shared on Instagram. “I’ve heard a lot of people say, ‘don’t put God in a box,’ but God puts himself in a box. He tells you who He is. He tells you what He likes. He tells you what he doesn’t. He tells you how to honor him, and how He’s made life to work, and how He’s expected husbands and wives to be to each other. How He expects children to be to their parents. …I treasure my marriage and my relationship with the Lord the most.

“I have people — tons of people — that say to me, or have texted me, or commented about me and said, ‘she is ruining her career by talking about these things…’ because I treasure a Godly marriage over anything the world could offer,” she said.

Barrett, 23, and her husband, Cade Foehner, 27, announced earlier this year that the “The Good Ones” singer is pregnant with Baby No. 3. Barrett and Foehner met as American Idol contestants in 2018, and married the following year. Since then, they’ve welcomed daughter Baylah May, on January 18, 2021, and son Augustine Boone on October 27, 2022. Barrett previously confirmed Baby No. 3 is a girl, due in early 2024.

Barrett recently participated in a growing, heartwarming trend of parents sharing sweet moments with their children set to the American Idol alum’s newest ballad, “Growin’ Up Raising You.” The autobiographical song is a “sensitive” one for Barrett, who said she feels “so blessed to be able to have three little lives that I can help to flourish in life while I am also trying to figure out life myself.”

Barett’s next full-length album, Chapter & Verse, is set to release on February 2, 2024.
