John Michael Montgomery To Launch 'Farewell Tour' In 2024

John Michael Montgomery announced he will begin his farewell tour this year after more than three decades in country music. Montgomery posted a statement on his Facebook page on New Year’s Day (Monday, January 1).

Montgomery, 58, revealed in his announcement that 2024 will mark the start of his farewell tour, which will conclude in 2025. The Kentucky-born artist — whose brother, Eddie Montgomery, 60, is one half of the duo Montgomery Gentry — also shared his gratitude for his decades-long career as he looks ahead to closing a chapter.

“I hope everyone enjoyed bringing in 2024 and may it be a wonderful one for all my friends out there,” Montgomery wrote. “For me it will be the start of my farewell tour as I have decided to wind down my touring career over this year and 2025.

“It’s been a wonderful run for me from the beginning over 30 years ago in 1992 when my first song LIFE’s A DANCE was released to radio I think either as a 45 vinyl or on a cassette tape. CDs had not quite taken over the market yet and the internet was still in its infancy. It amazes me where it is today,” Montgomery’s post continued. “I’ve been fortunate and blessed to be able to do what I love for so many years.... Please join me on my journey as I say goodbye to the road life. And thanks so much for your support for the last 3 decades, it’s meant so much me. Take care and see ya out there.”

As of publication time on Tuesday afternoon (January 2), Montgomery’s website lists upcoming performance dates in Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Texas, Ohio and Kansas throughout the year. See Montgomery's full Facebook post below.
