Miranda Lambert kicked off the year with Ashley Monroe and Stephen Wilson Jr., teaming up to write “the first songs of 2024,” she said as she shared a selfie with her the two singer-songwriters on Monday evening (January 8).
Lambert hailed fellow Pistol Annies artist Monroe — who debuted her latest single, “Over Everything,” in November — an inspiration to her for about two decades. “New friend” Wilson’s album, søn of dad, which released in September, “has lit a fire under my a** since I laid ears on it.” The trio wrote three new songs that day.
“Wrote the first songs of 2024 today with bestie [Ashley Monroe] and new friend [Stephen Wilson Jr.],” Lambert wrote in her caption on Instagram. “I’ve been inspired by Ash and her melodies and heart for 20 years now. And Stephen’s record has lit a fire under my a** since I laid ears on it . Great start to this year I’d say! We got deep in the paint. 3 in a day… but let’s get it while the gettin’s good💕💙🤠”
Lambert, gearing up for her final Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency shows this spring, released her latest full-length album in April 2022. Palomino included “Actin’ Up,” “If I Was A Cowboy,” “Strange” and other fan-favorites throughout the 15-track record. Since then, Lambert has also released a live rendition of “Carousel” and “If You Were Mine,” a collaboration with Leon Bridges. See her selfie with Monroe and Wilson here:
