Zac Brown Band frontman Zac Brown revealed “a very special surprise” in a video posted to the band’s social media pages on Wednesday morning (February 14). Brown announced that the band will release a track from the vault nearly 10 years after it was created with late DJ and remixer Avicii. He died in 2018. He was 28.

“This has been in the vault for a long time. Before Avicii’s passing, he and I worked together on a song called ‘Broken Arrows,’ and in return, he promised to do a remix on one of my songs,” Brown said in the video. “So, we have ‘Beautiful Drug,’ the Avicii version of that, coming out. It’s very special to us.”

Zac Brown Band wrote in the caption of the video that Avicii remixed “Beautiful Drug” in 2015. The original song appeared on Zac Brown Band’s 16-track album that released that year, Jekyll & Hyde, which also featured “Loving You Easy,” “Homegrown,” “Remedy,” collaborations with Sara Bareilles and Chris Cornell, “Castaway” and other highlights.

Zac Brown Band’s latest collection to release is From The Road, Vol. 1: Covers, a 13-track album of recorded covers from live shows over the years, including “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Margaritaville,” “The Way You Look Tonight” and other iconic, genre-spanning hits. Before that, the band released The Comeback deluxe edition in 2022, featuring 21 tracks and star-studded collaborations with Cody Johnson, Blake Shelton, Jimmy Buffett and others.

Avicii’s remixed version of Zac Brown Band’s “Beautiful Drug” is set to release from the vault on Friday (February 16).
