Dierks Bentley Just Covered 'One Of The Greatest Rock Songs Of All Time'

Dierks Bentley just released a triumphant rendition of iconic 70's rock hit "American Girl" originally performed by Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. The newly-released cover smoothes the edges of the familiar, gritty rock beat while simultaneously paying perfect homage to the melody.

According to American Songwriter, the American anthem, initially released in 1976, was actually recorded for the first-time on the 4th of July. Keeping all lyrics the same, Bentley serenades listeners with a story built on hope and ambition as the "American Girl," running freely through the lines of the song, chases her dreams with relentless passion. Bentley took to Instagram to express his excitement for the cover, revealing that the entire project would not have been possible without the "greatest acoustic pickers of all time."

The country hitmaker released never-before-seen studio footage in the days leading up to the highly-anticipated release.
