Gary Allan and his longtime girlfriend have officially tied the knot in a spontaneous, intimate wedding ceremony outside of Nashville, Tennessee.

The country star and bride Molly Martin, who were engaged for longer than two years, got married in a private ceremony last month in Sumner County, Tennessee. The only attendees were the officiant — County Mayor John C. Isbell — and a photographer, PEOPLE first reported on Tuesday morning (March 5). Allan said in a statement to the outlet: “We wanted something low-key that was representative of some of our favorite times together. We had a private ceremony close to home, then ended the day with dinner and drinks with a few close friends. It could not have been a more perfect day!

“We may still do a bigger celebration later on, but for now we are happy to be husband and wife,” Allan added later, telling PEOPLE that he and Martin couldn’t wait any longer to make it official. Read the full story here.

Allan, 56, is known for countless career-spanning hits, including “Watching Airplanes,” “Nothing On But The Radio,” “Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain),” “Right Where I Need To Be,” “Her Man,” “Waste Of A Whiskey Drink” and many others. The California-born artist released his debut full-length album, a 10-track project titled Used Heart For Sale, in the mid-90s. Allan’s latest full-length collection, Ruthless, arrived in 2021.

The caption on a wedding photo posted to Allan’s Instagram page on Tuesday reads: “Congratulations, Gary and Molly!”
