Shania Twain is officially a “Barbie role model,” the global country-pop superstar shared on Wednesday morning (March 6). Twain posted a few photos to unveil her “one-of-a-kind Barbie doll,” which matches her bold new hair color and wears an outfit inspired by the original “Man! I Feel Like A Woman!” music video look from the 90s. Twain compared the doll’s wardrobe pieces to an image of herself wearing the same thing for her Las Vegas residency.

The Queen of Me artist couldn’t help but reference an iconic Ryan Gosling moment from the record-breaking Barbie movie that made its debut in July 2023. Gosling (Ken) starred opposite Margot Robbie (Barbie) in the Greta Gerwig-directed movie. On TikTok, Twain looks at her new Barbie doll with a straight face. She asks for a minute, steps away from the camera, and loudly shouts “SUBLIME!” When Twain returns, she calmly says, “approve.”

“I had to,” she wrote in her caption on TikTok with a laughing emoji. “But seriously... I am honoured to be recognised as a [Barbie] role model - I have my own one-of-a-kind Barbie doll!! Pinch me!!”

Mattel Inc., the toy company that includes the Barbie brand, announced that it would kick off Barbie’s 65th anniversary celebrations this month. That includes by honoring “global storytellers using their platform for good,” including Twain (Canada), along with Viola Davis (U.S.), Dame Helen Mirren (U.K.), Kylie Minogue (Australia), Maira Gomez (Brazil), Lila Avilés (Germany), Nicole Fujita (Japan) and Enissa Amani (Germany), per a press release issued Wednesday. Each of the women have had Barbie dolls made in time for International Women’s Day on Friday (March 8). Barbie’s 65th anniversary is on Saturday (March 9).

“Barbie’s story has never been just about her. It’s about the countless young kids she’s inspired and the millions of stories she helped them imagine along the way,” Krista Berger, Senior Vice President of Barbie and Global Head of Dolls, said in a statement. “For the past 65 years, Barbie has used her global platform to empower girls to dream big, explore their limitless potential, and direct their own narrative to shape their future. As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we recognize over six decades of stories Barbie has helped write and the doll that continues to give everyone the opportunity to dream – and dream big.”

Twain also posted several photos and videos with her newly-debuted Barbie doll on Instagram.

“Ladies and gentlemen... HER 🥹💗” Twain wrote as she introduced her doll. “All I’ve wanted to do my whole life is tell stories of empowerment, independence and self-expression through my songwriting, getting to do that and inspire women and girls along the way is the dream... everything else is a beautiful bonus! It means a lot to expand my responsibility as a role model into the Barbie world…I love her!!”
