A yellow-billed loon made an unexpected stop at Lake Bellagio on the Las Vegas Strip, prompting the Bellagio to pause its famous fountains.

Wildlife biologists safely captured the rare bird and relocated it to a remote location to continue its migratory journey.

The yellow-billed loon is considered one of the rarest birds in the U.S. and had likely sought shelter from a storm in Las Vegas.

Concerned birders and state wildlife officials worked together to ensure the bird's well-being and successful relocation.
