Micky Guyton honors powerful, influential women around the globe in the music video for her uplifting anthem, “Woman.” The Texas-born singer-songwriter represented a range of stories and strengths in the stunning black-and-white video that premiered on Wednesday morning (March 13), including on CMT, CMT Music, and CMT Equal Play, she noted. The visual features women holding photos of others who have inspired them (and features one boy who stands out, Guyton’s 3-year-old son, who embraces his mother in a big hug).

Guyton debuted the single on International Women’s Day on Friday, March 8. She noted during an appearance on CBS Mornings on Wednesday that it’s still Women’s History Month, and “I wanted to write a song celebrating women. We go through so much in life. We’re constantly being attacked and it’s just so important for us to (know) how resilient and how strong we are. ...I’m all about empowering people.” Guyton also spoke with the CBS Mornings hosts about Beyoncé’s highly-anticipated country album set to debut this month, and helped reveal the list of 2024 CMT Music Award nominees. Guyton is up for awards in the Video of the Year and Collaborative Video of the Year categories (“Nothing Compares To You,” feat. Kane Brown) in the fan-voted show.

“I loved the idea of writing a song that celebrates the power women have,” Guyton said in a statement of the anthem she wrote with Victor FrancoOliver FridKameron Glasper and Tayla Parx. “Throughout history and even today, women have taken pain, setbacks, and doubt, and they turn that into inner strength, and they persevere to achieve incredible things. Releasing this on International Women’s Day seemed only fitting. We’re miracle workers, y’all!

“The idea actually came from Tayla (Parx),” she added later. “At the time there was so much going on online about what defined a woman, and there was so many interpretations and the whole internet was ablaze, and we thought it was so important to release a song called ‘Woman’ on International Women’s Day. It’s funny how we wrote it. Tayla was actually in her Tesla driving from New York to L.A., so we literally wrote this song while she was in, while her Tesla was driving to L.A. and it was just a special moment and the song just felt so powerful. We wrote it about two years ago maybe, and so it’s just so really cool to finally seeing it have a little moment.”
