Kenny Chesney opened up about mourning losses of loved ones in a heartfelt ballad that made its debut on Friday (March 15), one week before the country music giant releases his next full-length album.

‘Wherever You Are Tonight’ is simply a song about grieving and holding on, which is what we all do when someone close to us passes,” Chesney explained. “We don’t live forever, but the moments, the life experiences, the connection, all the love, it just — it lingers in our life and in our soul forever.”

“Wherever You Are Tonight” is the latest song to release from Chesney’s forthcoming 15-track collection, Born, set to release on March 22. So far, Chesney has also shared “Just To Say We Did,” “Take Her Home,” “Thinkin’ Bout” and “Guilty Pleasure” as listeners await the full project.

Born will follow Here And Now, Chesney’s latest full-length album — and its 16-track deluxe edition — which released in 2020. His soon-to-debut project also follows singles “Beer With My Friends,” a collaboration with Old Dominion, “Da Ruba Girl,” and others, in addition to his career-spanning hits like “Get Along,” “I Go Back,” “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy,” “Save It for a Rainy Day,” “Don’t Blink,” “Beer In Mexico,” “How Forever Feels” and many more.

Next month, Chesney will kick off his headlining tour, titled after his early 2000s hit, “When The Sun Goes Down.” Chesney is bringing special guests Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker on the “Sun Goes Down 2024 Tour.” Its name “captured a vibe and a moment so perfectly,” Chesney previously said. “No matter how much fun you’re having all day long, ‘everything gets hotter when the sun goes down.’ I know from years of experience that’s true. So I can’t wait to get back out there in stadiums across the country with [Zac Brown Band], [Megan Moroney] and [Uncle Kracker] for the Sun Goes Down 2024 Stadium Tour. There’s nothing like 60,000 members of [No Shoes Nation] singing these songs... It’s gonna be awesome.”
