As his career grew in the early 1990's, Mister Cee, also known as "The Finisher," discovered The Notorious B.I.G. and helped him record the demo that got him signed to Bad Boy Records. Mister Cee went on to as an executive producer on Biggie's debut album Ready to Die in 1994. He continued to discover new artists and represent classic Hip-Hop in every mix he made throughout his extensive radio career.

"The family of The Notorious B.I.G extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of our beloved brotha Calvin 'DJ Mister Cee' Lebrun on his transition," the estate said in a statement posted to Instagram. "He was a dear friend and mentor of B.I.G and an unwavering committed supporter of the family over the years of B.I.G’s transition. We Love and Salute you King.. 🫡 RIP- One of the BEST to touch the turntables."
