4/15/24 Blog: Iran Attacks Israel, And A New Book On Climate Change

WHAT NOW THAT IRAN ATTACKED ISRAEL? I've got Cliff May from the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies on at 12:30 to talk about this weekend attacks by Iran against Israel. What will Israel do in response? They have said they will "exact a price" from Iran, but apparently will do so without American help as Biden has said he will not support Israel if they issue a retaliatory strike. I'm Interested to see what Cliff says about this, as the Iranian people are celebrating in the streets over an attack that did almost no damage and hurt a couple of people and a child. CAN WE GET AHOLD OF TROUBLE AT HOMELESS HOTELS? The Denver Post wrote this article on the changes that are taking place at the Trouble Tree and Meth Western homeless hotels and I am hopeful that they will be enough to bring the excessive number of police and fire calls down to some manageable level. It may be easier for the police to respond to the calls here rather than at various homeless camps, but the neighbors did not sign up for this and deserve better. Read it here.

COULD THERE BE A LAW CHANGE FOR HOA FORECLOSURES The fact that an HOA can foreclose on a home for a fraction of what it's worth to recover HOA fees is appalling to me. Now a couple of new bills are working their way through the legislature to change the way HOA foreclosures work to give the homeowner some of the equity they have built up back. DO YOU WANT TO SEE A PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE? This time it's Joe Biden who says it "depends on his behavior" when asked if he would debate Trump. We all know Trump didn't see the point in debating his GOP opponents, a strategy that paid off as he is the nominee. Now news organizations are asking the candidates to commit to schedule of debates and we're just waiting to see if the pressure is enough to force these two into it. Trump has said he would like ten debates with Biden, which is excessive and will never happen, but he's ready to go toe to toe with Joe.

WHY AREN'T WE GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP? I've spent YEARS fighting insomnia but recently I've found the secret to amazing sleep: eating right, getting exercise, no booze, and making sure my bedroom is ready for sleep. Lo and behold, I'm sleeping like a baby now. But I am in the minority as more Americans than not are saying they would feel better if they got enough sleep. So how are you sleeping?

BIDEN APPROVED THE IRAN ATTACK But the bigger part of this David Strom column is the shifting winds in the Middle East around these attacks. Both Jordan AND Saudi Arabia joined the US, the UK, and France in knocking Iranian missiles out of the sky. That's kind of a big deal. Strom also makes the case that by giving permission for the Iranian attacks was the best strategy out of many bad ones. We'll see if Israel agrees.

AND NOW THE LEFT IS CHEERING IRAN And I don't mean quietly. I mean loudly at a meeting of anti-war Anti-Semites who are planning to attack the DNC this year. Read this:

“They believe that they will be in Palestinian—I don’t call it Israeli—airspace between two and four a.m., which means about two to four hours from now,” he says. “In addition, there are reports of drones having been fired on Israel from Yemen and Iraq.”

The crowd, all wearing black N95s, erupts into applause. Someone in the back lowers their mask to send a celebratory whistle soaring throughout the room.  

It's as if this people are wholly ignorant of who Iran is. Oh wait, they are. Or they just love evil regimes that beat women to death in the streets for not fully covering their bodies. This paragraph made me laugh out loud and I must share it:

A woman in a hot pink gas mask, wielding a matching neon cane and dressed in a “Protect Trans Kids” t-shirt, throws her fist in the air. Nearby, a service poodle is taking a nap under the chair of his owner, who is wearing a leather harness over his t-shirt. Then the group that has joined here from cities across America—Seattle, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles—cheers and claps in celebration.
