If you're looking to shake up your travel plans, why not head to a less popular spot? Not only do you reap the benefits of fewer crowds, but you'll probably have a more memorable and intimate experience with the location. Plus, who doesn't want more space to snap beautiful photos and more time to explore cultural sites, iconic landmarks, and beloved

If you want to visit these unique destinations, 24/7 Tempo curated a list of the "most underrated attractions" in the world. Writers consulted several travel sites such as Thrillist, World Packers, Travel + Leisure, Travel Channel, and Explore to compile their list.

The roundup features many fascinating locales, cities, and tourist sites in France, Australia, Istanbul, Japan, Madagascar, and other countries. Several U.S. destinations landed on the list, too, including a renowned national park in Colorado.

Mesa Verde National Park is a haven for history buffs and archaeological enthusiasts. The National Park Service has described the iconic cliff dwellings as "sacred" and an important part of Colorado's cultural heritage. Besides the centuries-old landmarks, adventurers can view stunning wildlife, hike, and experience more amazing activities.

Writers also explained why they included the national park:

"There’s more to do in Colorado than skiing in Aspen and taking in the city life of Denver. Mesa Verde National Park is a perfect place for adventurers to go since it’s another highly underrated world attraction. This national park was first established in 1906. Today, it still includes endless rock carvings for hikers to analyze and appreciate. It’s possible that more archaeological sites will be uncovered there in the future, but for now, more than 4,700 have already been pointed out."
