Black Teen Dies After Being 'Essentially Decapitated' By Sword-Wielding Man

A 14-year-old teenager was killed after being "essentially decapitated" by a man wielding a samurai-like sword in London.

Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, is facing charges in connection to the killing of Daniel Anjorin, 14, as well as alleged attacks against two police officers and the stabbing of two other individuals, per The Standard.

The sword attack unfolded within 20 minutes on April 30, prosecutor Tom Little KC said. It started with Monzo allegedly crashing his vehicle into a fence in Laing Close, Hainault, and hitting an individual identified as Donato Iwule.

Monzo then got out of the vehicle, threatened Iwule, and slashed him across the neck, according to reports.

The 14-year-old Anjorin was walking to school when he was attacked from behind, leaving him with head and neck wounds. Anjorin was “very largely essentially decapitated," according to the prosecution. He later succumbed to his injuries.

Monzo continued his alleged rampage as he was chased by police officers. He is also accused of entering the home of Henry De Los Rios Polania, who was asleep with his wife and four-year-old daughter, and stabbing the father.

Two police officers, PC Yasmin Margaret Mechem-Whitfield and Inspector Moloy Elec Campbell, were also allegedly attacked during the pursuit of Monzo.

Monzo is set to remain in custody until his plea hearing on July 23. A three-week provisional trial is scheduled to begin on February 3, 2025.
