New Iteration Of "The Office" In Works At Peacock

May 9, 2024

A new version of "The Office" is in the works at Peacock. Variety reports it'll be a new mockumentary show with a brand-new cast, rather than a reboot of the classic NBC comedy. The show will see the documentary crew that followed Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch now follow Midwestern newspaper office and a publisher trying to bring it back to life with volunteer reporters.

According to the network, the series will be set in the same universe as the original American version of The Office but will feature new characters at a new location.

That location has now been confirmed to be a dying local newspaper in the Midwest.

“The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters,” says NBCUniversal.

“It’s been more than ten years since the final episode of ‘The Office’ aired on NBC, and the acclaimed comedy series continues to gain popularity and build new generations of fans on Peacock,” Lisa Katz, the president of NBCUniversal Entertainment, said in a statement.
