Dogs Bites Face Of Alleged Sexual Attacker In Park

A Colorado woman was able to help fight off a man trying to sexually assault her, thanks to the help of her dog. The Fort Collins Police Department responded to a 911 call from a woman who said she was being attacked by a man. The dispatcher said that the woman was "crying and telling a male to get off of her" when she called.  

Police were able to locate the woman at Lee Martinez Park using her cell phone's location. When officers arrived, the woman told them that she fought off the suspect for over 20 minutes as he tried to sexually assault her. During the struggle, her dog attacked the man, biting him in the face, allowing her to escape.

"The officers involved were surprised by the dog's behavior and gave a great kudos to his intervention," said J Gilmore, the director of communications for Fort Collins Police.

The suspect was still in the park, trailing behind the woman. She pointed him out to the officers, and he was taken into custody without incident. He was identified as 39-year-old transient Seth Estabrooks. 

He was taken to the hospital and received treatment for dog bites. He was then transferred to jail, where he was charged with He was charged with second-degree assault, strangulation, unlawful sexual contact with force or threat, and false imprisonment by force.
