4.9 Magnitude Earthquake Felt Across Southern U.S. States

A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck near the U.S.-Mexico border at 11:22 a.m. on Sunday (May 12). The quake was centered in Baja California, Mexico, about 110 miles from San Diego, California.
There have been several aftershocks, including one that was a 4.6 magnitude.
The quake was felt across southern California and Arizona.
There have been no reports of damage or injuries due to the quake and the aftershocks.
The quake follows a 6.4-magnitude earthquake that struck earlier Sunday near the Mexico-Guatemala border. It was centered several miles off the Pacific Coast and had a depth of 46.6 miles. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries in Mexico. Officials in Guatemala said there were reports of some damage in Quetzaltenango and San Marcos. There were no reports of injuries.
The National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction, Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery of Guatemala posted several photos on X of the damage, which included a landslide blocking a road and several cracked and collapsed buildings.
