Sister Duo Tigirlily Gold Open Up About Post-Breakup Heartache

Sister duo Tigirlily Gold made their debut on the ACM Awards stage on Thursday evening (May 16), shortly after their New Duo or Group of the Year victory.
Tigirlily Gold — made up of North Dakota-born sisters Krista and Kendra Slaubaugh — delivered a powerful rendition of heartache single “I Tried A Ring On” when they took the stage at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The breakup ballad arrived earlier this year, months ahead of Tigirlily Gold’s debut album announcement. Blonde will release this summer.
“Making our first full record was truly one of the most incredible experiences, and we cannot wait for you to hear these songs!” Tigirlily Gold gushed as they revealed details about their forthcoming record earlier this month. “They say it takes your whole life to write your first album, and these 10 songs reflect both our journeys together as sisters and our individual lives navigating our 20’s. We started this journey together over 11 years ago, but this right here feels like the start of a whole new chapter.”
Tigirlily Gold won the New Duo or Group of the Year award on the first night of a two-night ACM Country Kickoff event on Tuesday night (May 14). The same night, Megan Moroney and Nate Smith and won New Female Artist of the Year New Male Artist of the Year, respectively.
“We just won our first ACM AWARD!!! This is 11 years of long days, short nights, ups and downs, and never giving up. Thank you to the [ACM Awards] for this incredible honor. We are absolutely beside ourselves. More to come later… 😭🤯💕,” Tigirlily Gold wrote in a caption on Instagram as they celebrated their victory on Tuesday night.
Other artists who took the stage during the 59th ACM Awards included Jason Aldean (who delivered a heartfelt tribute to late country star Toby Keith), Post Malone, Parker McCollum, Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan; husband-and-wife duo Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani; Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton (with surprise guest Dua Lipa) and Lainey Wilson. Reba McEntire, who returned to host the show for the 17th time, performed her new single, “I Can’t.”
