EXCLUSIVE: Whitnall Middle School Teacher Charged with Child Pornography

A Whitnall Middle School teacher was arrested Thursday and charged with two counts of possession of child pornography.

Ryan J. Craig, 37, has been suspended without pay and barred from returning to the school, and the Whitnall School District said in a letter to staff members that no children were impacted.

Waukesha County Circuit Court Commissioner David Herring freed Craig on a $100,000 signature bond and ordered him to have no contact with children, including his own, and to stay more than a half mile from Whitnall Middle School.

"We cannot provide additional information at this time due to the ongoing criminal investigation of this matter," Interim Superintendent Karen Taylor said in an email to staff Thursday afternoon. "However , there is no indication that any alleged conduct impacted Whitnall students."

If convicted on both charges, Craig faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on May 17th.
