84th edition of My Random Thoughts: Sports, TV, music, food, life.....

Die Hard is one of those movies I always stop and watch when channel surfing.

All Bengals Ring of Honor nominees are deserving. All will eventually get in. I think seniority matters. I want guys to experience the honor while they are alive. Bob Trumpy 79, Lemar Parrish 76 are the oldest. They should go next.

The Reds were 14-10 this year. It sure feels like that was over a year ago, not a month ago.

Every time I drive by Kentucky Speedway I shake my head. Empty. So sad. And think of the money spent and road/exit construction done.....

My discussions with Peyton this week: the word 'ick' and how ending a text with a period is considered hostile, by some. Wait, what?

TV show I miss: Suits. What a cast.

I didn't feel this way at the time, but I bet Nick Krall has to be kicking himself over not dealing prospects for more help last season. The team was in contention until the final Saturday night of the regular season. No guarantee when/if that shot ever comes again.

I covered Carb Day at the Indy 500 several times. I always remember Rick Mears rolling around on his scooter. He had bad feet from crashes.

I've never understood why more pitchers don't at least try to develop a knuckleball. I get it's a tough pitch. But it would be so different in this age of velocity.

Better Blend pick-to-click: Blueberry Cake Donut. My goodness.

Remember the name Zach Maxwell. I'd bet we see him out of the Reds bullpen sooner, rather than later.

Pop Rocks were so cool when I was a kid.

I once got to do a ride along with Indy driver Sarah Fisher at Kentucky Speedway. I was positioned behind her in a separation cockpit. The G-Force in turns was absolutely incredible.

As much as I appreciate the Bengals finally creating a Ring of Honor. The inaugural class should have been at least 10. They are never going to escape the backlog of catching up on 50+ years of players.

Jonathan India. Yikes.

Remember, the Reds own the No. 2 pick in the July 14 draft. An impact bat will be there. You are going to be hearing more and more about Charlie Condon, Travis Bazzana and Nick Kurz.

I have a thing about box turtles. If I see one on the road I try to stop and move it to the side. 'Petey' lived in our garden and ate cherry tomatoes when I was a kid.

Ever eaten at Comal in Ft. Thomas? I'm told we need to check it out.

I'd like to see the Reds have each minor league affiliate (4) play a regular season Sunday game at GABP, following the Reds game. Let fans see prospects. Let prospects experience GABP.

I heard a 35 year old song for the first time this week because I wasn't listening to country music back then: Two Dozen Roses, Shenandoah. That's a song.

Nothing better back in the day than hearing Indy 500 Public Address announcer Tom Carnegie when he'd declare: "He's ooooooooon it" when a driver was qualifying and ....."It's a neeeeeeeeeew track record"

I had a pet rock and a mood ring as a kid.

I actually agree with Rob Manfred on something. As we get closer to the reality of Automated Balls & Strikes, I like the challenge system. In the minors, a hitter, pitcher, catcher can challenge a pitch call. Each team gets three challenges per game.

I don't know about you, but I've seen enough of Mike Ford. Heck, he wasn't even Jason Vosler.

TV show I miss, Part 2: Third Watch.

Headed back to Madison, Indiana for a couple of days next weekend. Love that town.

Coolest jacket I ever owned was a satin Cincinnati Reds starter jacket. I'm thinking about 1980.

Update: Insurance finally totaled Peyton's car. We've purchased a car. Peyton is back in Louisville for her summer job at the Ali Center. Big thanks Walt Kelsey and Bay Guidugli and everyone at Kelsey Chevrolet for help w/ a fluid situation/quick turnaround. Official: Every member of our family now has a Kelsey car!
