WATCH: Man With Suspended License Joins Virtual Court Hearing While Driving

A Michigan man found himself in prison after he joined a virtual court session while driving. Corey Harris, 44, had a virtual hearing scheduled on May 15 over a charge of driving with a suspended license.

When Harris joined the Zoom meeting, he was sitting behind the wheel of his car. Judge Cedric Simpson was shocked by what he saw and asked Harris if he was driving.

"Actually, I'm pulling into my doctor's office, actually," Harris told Judge Simpson. "So just give me one second. I'm parking right now."

Simpson was incredulous and couldn't believe what he was seeing.

"Maybe I don't understand something, this is for driving while [his] license is suspended?" Judge Cedric Simpson asked Harris' lawyer.

"That is correct, your honor," Harris' attorney replied.

"He doesn't have a license. He's suspended, and he was just driving," Judge Simpson said. "I don't even know why he would do that. The defendant's bond is revoked in this matter. The defendant must turn himself into the Washtenaw County Jail by 6 p.m., failure to turn himself in will result in a bench warrant with no bond."

Harris was in disbelief when he realized he had been caught breaking the law. He turned himself in and was released after spending two days in jail.
