Belly is taking a stand for everyone who's been affected by Palestine-Israel war.
The Palestinian artist just dropped his new album 96 Miles From Bethlehem via Universal Arabic Music (UAM) and SALXCO. The profound nine-track project — executive produced by Belly himself along with Daheala and Dannyboystyles — gives fans a raw glimpse into his personal life and the struggles of his people who are currently living in gruesome conditions amid the conflict in Gaza. The album's title is inspired by his hometown of Jenin, which is located 96 miles outside of Bethlehem. He raps about the resilience of his hometown in "Jenin's Song."
"She is heaven personified, unmodified/That's why they falsify the truth about her all the time," Belly spits. "I tried to see her, but I got denied/'Cause every time I tried to visit, she was occupied."
Belly uses the album to emphasize the gift and the curse of being Palestinian, especially in today's landscape. Songs like "The Gift, The Curse, & The Faith" and "Metal Birds" describe the emotions and anxiety coming from people struggling to survive in the war-torn state. The album also features Palestinian artists Elyanna, Saint Levant, Ibrahim Maalouf and MC Abdul with production from Daheala. All proceeds from the LP will go towards organizations that will benefit Gaza, the WestBank and other areas in Palestine that are affected by the war.
In addition to the album, Belly also released the official music video for "Patience vs. Patients." The intense visuals show the aftermath of the areas that have been destroyed during the conflict. Listen to the album and watch the music video below.
