Former NBA point guard Delonte West was arrested in Virginia for violation of conditions of release and charged with resisting arrest, FOX 5 DC initially reported.
West, 40, was booked in the Fairfax County Detention Center at 4:35 a.m. on Thursday (June 6) with a bond set at $2,000, a jail official confirmed to TMZ Sports. The journeyman former point guard has been troubled in the years since his final NBA season in 2012, which included his previous arrest in Fairfax County after attempting to enter a vehicle that didn't belong to him, which resulted in four misdemeanor charges of vehicle trespassing, fleeing from law enforcement and being drunk in public in 2022.
West was seen in handcuffs on a Washington, D.C., highway in a video shared in January 2020 and panhandling at an intersection in Dallas in photos shared in September 2020. The former NBA guard later entered a drug rehabilitation program financed by then-Dallas Mavericks majority owner Mark Cuban, who also provided a hotel room for West to stay in.
West was reported to have gotten a job at the rehab facility in January 2021, however, was once again shown panhandling, this time in Virginia, in videos shared in July 2022. The former Saint Joseph's University standout was selected by the Boston Celtics at No. 24 overall in the 2004 NBA Draft and played for four NBA teams in nine seasons.
