AC/DC Classic Becomes First Single To Achieve Impressive Feat

AC/DC's put out a lot of hits, but "Thunderstruck" is now officially their biggest (in the US, anyway). The 1990 single was just certified Diamond by the RIAA (which means it's sold the equivalent of at least 10 million copies, with streams factored in), marking the rock veterans' first single to achieve the impressive feat.
As Consequence points out, the certification came as a bit of a surprise because the song hadn't been certified at all until now. That means it went Gold (for half a million units), Platinum (one million), and Diamond all at the same time. In addition to "Thunderstruck," eight other AC/DC songs hit Platinum status in the RIAA's latest round of certification, including “T.N.T.,” “Hell’s Bells,” and “You Shook Me All Night Long." The band’s iconic album Back in Black is also now 26x Platinum (meaning it's sold 26 million units).
AC/DC are currently on tour in Europe, which is their first outing in eight years. See a full list of tour dates below.
