American athlete Ryan Crouser is making history in the world of shot put. Standing at 6'7" and weighing 320 pounds, the 31-year-old is on the brink of securing his third Olympic gold medal in Paris. Born on December 18, 1992, in Portland, Oregon, Crouser grew up in the nearby town of Boring. He attended Sam Barlow High School in Gresham, Oregon, where he began his track and field journey in fifth grade, quickly gaining national recognition in discus and shot put.

Crouser's athletic prowess runs in the family. His father, Mitch Crouser, was a distinguished discus thrower and an alternate on the 1984 U.S. Olympic discus team. His uncles, Brian and Dean, were also high-level track and field athletes. Brian competed in two Olympic Games in the javelin, while Dean excelled in shot put and discus.

Crouser attended the University of Texas from 2012 to 2016, where he won four NCAA shot put titles. His impressive performance in the field continues to this day, with his sights set on more Olympic gold. Off the field, Crouser maintains a hefty diet to fuel his performance, consuming over 5,000 calories a day, including two breakfast burritos each morning and a lunch typically consisting of 12 ounces of rice and a pound of lean ground beef.

Crouser qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympics, adding another milestone to his already illustrious career. His journey serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes, proving that with dedication and hard work, one can reach the pinnacle of their sport.
