Tan DaGod, a rising rapper out of California, was shot and killed during her meet-and-greet at the grand opening of a beauty shop.
The shooting occurred on Saturday afternoon, July 13, at the Glamor Beauty Supply on 40th Street and Telegraph Avenue in Oakland. According to KRON4, shots were fired at the strip mall around 5 p.m. after Tan did a meet-and-greet with fans. Police arrived at the scene and found one victim, who they later identified as Tan a.k.a. Alliauna Green. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. Witnesses say they saw a man pull up to the event and started shooting.
“Just connection vibes, just family vibes, it's peaceful, and people just showing off their talents and just being themselves,” artist and witness Rakeem "Hazpain" told NBC's Bay Area affiliate. “Then they started letting off more rounds. Then the building across the street got hit like five times. When shots went through the window and I was ducking behind the chairs in a donut shop."
“They were just doing party, and he just stopped by and started shooting," another witness Saul Cho said. "I heard like 20 shots in like five seconds.”
Tan DaGod was an aspiring artist and entrepreneur who had just opened her beauty shop as well as an Airbnb in Florida. She's released a lot of music since 2021 including her most recent EP Ex Wood Pack. Once news about her passing went viral, fellow Oakland rapper Mistah F.A.B paid tribute to her.
“The violence is beyond understanding the hurt the pain the trauma has made a forever lasting impact,” he wrote on Instagram. “I will always remember you as a hustling ass go getter, with a world of ambition, drive and courage and a heart big as TEXAS!!!! I love you lil sis and told you on several occasions sad to see this happen!!! They had me booked to be there with you but GOD had different plans .. to #Tannation family and friends may our warmest condolences be with you!!”
