Born and raised in Oceanside, California, 18-year-old Caitlin Simmers, known as Caity, is a surfing prodigy set to represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Currently ranked number one in the world, Simmers is making a name for herself in the world of professional surfing.

Simmers was born into a family of surfers and started riding the waves at an early age. She won her first surf competition at the age of 10 and has been making waves in the sport ever since. At 15, she qualified for the World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour and became the second-youngest winner in the history of the US Open of Surfing in 2021.

Despite her early success, Simmers chose to forgo her spot on the WSL Championship Tour to spend time with her family and hone her skills. She eventually packed her bags at 16 to compete around the world. Reflecting on her decision, Simmers toldĀ told People, "I definitely feel like it was the right decision. I've never really regretted that."

Now, Simmers is topping the women's WSL ranking on the Championship Tour and is set to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite her young age, she has been beating her idols, including five-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist Carissa Moore and eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore.

When asked about her success, Simmers said, "It's just something that's happened... I like competing and I like to beat people." As she prepares for her Olympic debut, Simmers remains focused and determined, embodying the spirit of a true athlete.
