Stewart, Wilson Lead USA Women's Basketball To Blowout In Olympic Opener

Veterans A'Ja Wilson and Breanna Stewart led the USA Women's Basketball Team to a 102-76 win against Japan in the team's opening game of Group C play at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday (July 29).

The duo combined for 46 points, 21 rebounds and seven assists, with Wilson recording a game-best 24 points, 13 rebounds and four assists, while Stewart recorded 22 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Team USA's bench scored a combined 48 points with Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu and Kelsey Plum all finishing with 11 points each.

The Americans led Japan each quarter, which included a 52-37 advantage in the second half. Team USA also had a team field goal percentage of 54.5% and went 14 of 18 on free throw attempts, while Japan was limited to a 37.8% and went 5 of 6 on free throw attempts.
