2024 Olympics Day 11 Results: USWNT Clinches Gold Medal Game Berth

The United States Women's Soccer Team clinched a berth in the gold-medal game following a 1-0 win against Germany in the semifinal round during Day 11 of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday (August 6).

Sophia Smith scored the lone goal in extra time on an assist from Mallory Swanson in the 95th minute. Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher kept Germany scoreless through 121 minutes of total play, making seven saves, which included a crucial deflection off her left foot in the 117th minute.

The Americans, who have undefeated play, will face Brazil in the gold-medal game, which will mark the last international match of Brazilian legend Marta, who missed the semifinal win against Spain after losing her appeal against a two-game ban.

American sprinter Gabby Thomas won gold in the women's 200-meter final on Tuesday. Thomas, 27, was clocked at a time of 21.83, edging out Julien Alfred (22.08) of Saint Lucia -- who won gold in the women's 100-meter final on Saturday (August 3) -- and teammate Brittany Brown (22.20).

American long-distance runner Cole Hocker set a a new Olympic record in the 1500-meter men's final at the Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Hocker, 23, was clocked at 3:27.65, beating his previous personal best in the event by nearly three full seconds and bypassed five other runners during the final 200 meters of the race, including reigning world champion Josh Kerr of Great Britain and reigning Olympic champion Jakob Ingebrigsten of Norway, both of whom were considered as favorites ahead of the race.

American wrestler Amit Elor won gold for the 68 kg weight class in her Olympic debut. Elor, 20, defeated Meerim Zhumanazarova of Kyrgystan, 3-0, in what was her closest match of the competition, completing her bracket with a combined score of 31-2 and extending her more than five-year undefeated streak.

Kevin Durant made history as the United States Men's Basketball Team defeated Brazil, 112-80, to advance to the semifinal round at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday (August 6). Durant passed Lisa Leslie's previous record of 488 career points in Olympic play to become USA Basketball's all-time leading scorer for men and women while recording 11 points, along with three rebounds, three assists and one steal, during Tuesday's win.

The two-time NBA champion entered the 2024 Paris Olympics as the U.S. Men's Basketball Team's all-time leading scorer. Team USA will face Serbia in a rematch of their Group C opening matchup of the 2024 Paris Olympics in the semifinals on Thursday (August 8).

The United States defeated Serbia, 110-84, on July 28. The winner of the Serbia-USA matchup will face the winner of Thursday's semifinal game between Germany and France for the gold medal.
