The United States Men's Basketball Team rallied back from a double-digit halftime deficit to defeat Serbia, 95-91, to clinch a berth in the gold-medal game at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Thursday (August 8).
The Americans trailed 54-23 at halftime before outscoring Serbia, 52-37 in the second half, which included a 32-15 edge in the fourth quarter. Stephen Curry led all scorers with 36 points, which included shooting 9-14 on 3-point attempts, which was one-point shy of Carmelo Anthony's single-game record.
Team USA took the lead late in the fourth after Curry hit a 3-pointer with 2:20 remaining, which was immediately followed by back-to-back coast-to-coast layups by LeBron James and Curry on the next two possessions. James recorded a triple-double, finishing Thursday's game with 16 points, 12, rebounds and 10 assists.
Center Joel Embiid recorded 19 points, four rebounds and two assists. Team USA will face host nation France -- who defeated Germany, 73-69, in the semifinal round on Thursday -- in the gold-medal game on Saturday (August 10) at 3:30 p.m. ET.
The Americans have won all four previous games at the Paris Olympics and look to win their fifth consecutive gold medal.
