Tom Cruise successfully executed an unforgettable stunt to close out the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, passing the flag on to the city slated to host the 2028 Summer Olympic Games.
Video footage obtained by TODAY, shows Cruise diving into the Stade de France as he leaps onto a motor cycle headed towards the Eiffel Tower in pursuit of Los Angeles, California. He then boards a plane from one iconic landmark to the next and skydives down to the Hollywood Sign. Once he arrives, he gives the storied sign an Olympic ring makeover, signifying the location of the next Summer Olympic Games.
The Mission: Impossible standout, praised for doing his own stuntwork in many of his films, carried a large, olympic flag (which he obtained from Los Angeles' mayor Karen Bass and gold medalist Simone Biles per Page Six) by his side for the entirety of the stunt.
This is not the first time that the silver screen king has taken part in an Olympic ceremony. In 2004, the Top Gun: Maverick icon carried the Olympic torch "as part of a ceremonial relay across the world," ending in Athens, Greece.
Aside from pulling off another legendary stunt, the 62-year-old actor also enjoyed watching the games and was seen cheering for Team USA on multiple occasions.
Athletes from all over the world shined at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, but they weren't the only ones in the spotlight. Celine Dion took the stage at the world-renowned event's opening ceremony, standing out as her first performance in 5 years following her Stiff Person Syndrome diagnosis, and Lady Gaga announced her engagement.
