Racquet's Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast, hosted by Australian tennis legend and NBC analyst Rennae Stubbs and Racquet magazine co-founder Caitlin Thompson, released its first official episode as part of the iHeartMedia and Deep Blue Women's Sports Audio Network on Monday (August 19).
Stubbs and Thompson recorded their official debut episode live from Fanatics Fest NYC, a three-day meet-and-greet event featuring several sports icons at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. The episode featured a conversation with award-winning writer Foster Kamer, who wrote a feature piece for Racquet on eight-time Grand Slam singles champion Andre Agassi's upcoming return to tennis after a 15-year absence.
"I ended up writing an essay about being from Las Vegas and Andre's kind of recession from the tennis world and working in education and stepping away from the limelight and how he started to move back into it and getting under the hood with the psychology of things like his father and how much he hated tennis, and what an insane revelation that was for any athlete to come out with when he came out with his memoir," Kamer said. "He admitted, you know, he did, in fact, hate tennis. He hated doing it, he was forced by his dad to do it.
"And for me, when I read his memoir, that was the most striking thing."
Racquet's Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast features discussions about tennis, friends, favorite players, love and other topics discussed by the six-time grand slam champion.
