Former President Donald Trump revealed how his wife, Melania, and their son, Barron, reacted to him being targeted in an assassination attempt.

“Barron was outside having a tennis lesson,” Trump said during an interview with FOX News' Mark Levin. “He’s a good tennis player. And somebody ran up and said, ‘Barron! Barron! Your father’s been shot!’”

“He loves his father. He’s a good kid, good student, good athlete actually — and he ran, ‘Mom! What’s going on? What’s going on?” the former president added.

Trump said his wife was watching his rally live on TV and watched the assassination attempt unfold.

“She couldn’t believe it. She was actually watching it live, can you imagine? And then I get up, and I let people know I was OK,” Trump said, acknowledging that he raised his fist after getting up from being tackled to the ground by Secret Service agents. “I let people know I was OK. But it was a hit, it was a big hit.”

Trump claimed that his wife is still unable to discuss the incident nearly two months later.

“She can’t even talk about it, which is okay because that means she likes me,” he said.

Trump's right ear was grazed during the shooting and he was seen yelling "fight" to his supporters while being evacuated from the rally by Secret Service members. One spectator, identified as Corey Comperatore, 50, was killed during the incident while two others, David Dutch, 57, of New Kensington, and James Copenhaver, 74, were initially critically wounded but later upgraded to stable condition.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was immediately taken out by Secret Service agents, though was also reported to be on officials' radar as a suspicious person more than 90 minutes before opening fire. Trump officially accepted the Republican presidential nomination during the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 18.
