Lainey Wilson appeared as a surprise guest during Machine Gun Kelly’s headlining River On The Rooftop performance on Tuesday night (September 24). MGK headlined the free show with Mckenna Grace and Avery Anna at Skydeck, located by the iconic stretch of honk tonks on historic Lower Broadway in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

“I’m gonna need some help. Is my friend Lainey Wilson in here?” MGK said on stage, prompting an eruption of cheers from the packed crowd. Wilson joined the rapper and singer-songwriter on stage to deliver a rendition of “Lonely Road,” the John Denver-inspired duet MGK released with Jelly Roll over the summer.

MGK and Jelly Roll premiered a Sam Cahill-directed music video that featured their significant others — Megan Fox and Bunnie Xo, respectively — when they debuted “Lonely Road,” which pays tribute to Denver’s 1970s classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Jelly Roll said at the time, in part, that “I can’t even shower you with enough praises for how incredible it has been to watch you become one of the greatest most multifaceted songwriters and musicians in the game. Thank you for picking me to be on this one brother. This song was going to be hit no matter who you called I’m just honored it was me. And I’m glad the world is getting to see your heart.”
