Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice was carted off the field during the first quarter of his team's Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday (September 29) due to an apparent knee injury, CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson reported during the game's live broadcast.

The Chiefs officially ruled Rice, 24, out of the game, which was announced publicly on their social media accounts shortly after the injury occurred.

"Rashee Rice has been downgraded to OUT," the Chiefs wrote in response to an earlier post confirming that Rice was "questionable to return with a knee injury."

Rice, the Chiefs' leading wide receiver through their first three games, appeared to collide with quarterback Patrick Mahomes while attempting to tackle Kristian Fulton on an interception return. The second-year wide receiver entered Sunday's game with 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

Rice led the Chiefs with seven receiving touchdowns and ranked second behind only tight end Travis Kelce in receptions (79) and receiving yards (938) during his rookie season in 2023. The Chiefs are already without starting running back Isiah Pacheco, who was expected to be out four to eight weeks due to a broken fibula he suffered during the Chiefs' Week 2 win against the Cincinnati Bengals, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on September 16.
