R. Kelly's daughter plans to reveal a "heartbreaking secret" as she tells her side of the disturbing story about her imprisoned father.

On Sunday, September 29, the Tvei Network debuted the official trailer for its upcoming documentary R Kelly's Karma: A Daughter's Journey. The clip opens with news reports about JoAnn Kelly a.k.a. Buku Abi, who supported the victims who came forward with allegations against her father. We also hear from Kelly's ex-wife, Drea, and his son Robert Kelly, Jr before Joanne touches on the shocking secret.

"Nobody wants to be the child of a father that is out here hurting women and children," Kelly says.

“For a long time, I didn’t even want to believe that it happened," she continues while sobbing. "I didn’t know that even if he was a bad person that he would do something to me. I really feel like that one millisecond completely just changed my whole life.”

The documentary is expected to shed light on the traumatic impact Kelly's actions had on his own family. Kelly was charged in 2019 with possessing child pornography and child enticement charges in New York and Chicago. He was ultimately convicted for his crimes in New York back in 2021 and was convicted again in 2022. He's currently serving a 30-year sentence in prison.

Despite the trauma he inflicted on his victims and his family, R. Kelly is still doing everything he can to overturn his convictions. In July, the R&B singer's legal team filed a petition to toss out the previous rulings. His attorney Jennifer Bonjean argued that Kelly was found guilty of crimes that were outside of the statute of limitations. Bonjean's request was denied earlier this year, but she decided to appeal to Illinois' Supreme Court. As of this report, a decision has not been made yet.

R Kelly's Karma: A Daughter's Journey will premiere on October 11. Watch the full trailer below.
