Kane Brown delivered a heartfelt tribute to Alan Jackson ahead of his electrifying solo performance of the collaboration he released with Marshmello earlier this year. Brown was one of many artists to take the stage at the 2024 American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special on Sunday evening (October 6) in Los Angeles, California.

Brad Paisley introduced Brown to the stage, saying that he’s “so proud to see the superstar that he’s become.” Brown started his performance by covering “Drive (For Daddy Gene),” which country legend Jackson included on his 13-track album, Drive, in the early 2000s. Brown later transitioned to a fiercely-energetic performance of “Miles On It,” the first collaboration he released with Marshmello since the duo delivered “One Thing Right” in 2019. Marshmello joined Brown to film the music video on a “quick 24 hour trip to Nashville.”

“Girl, let's go put some miles on it/ Back of the Chevy with the engine running/ Just you and me in a truck bed wide like a California King/ We could break it in/ If you know what I mean/ Put some miles on it/ Back of the Chevy with the engine running/ Just you and me in a truck bed wide like a California King/ We could break it in / If you know what I mean/ Put some miles on it / We could break it in/ If you know what I mean/ Put some miles on it”

Brown has shared a few teasers to hint at the next chapter in his music, including unreleased collaborations with his wife, Katelyn Brown. The husband and wife duo, who welcomed Baby No. 3 in June, debuted the romantic duet, “Thank God,” on Brown’s latest full-length album. Different Man released in September 2022, with “Thank God,” “Bury Me in Georgia,” “One Mississippi” and other highlights throughout the track list. Brown as since released “Miles On It,” “Fiddle in the Band,” and “I Can Feel It,” a single with a nod to Phil Collins that also inspired the name of Brown’s 2024 headlining tour.

Other performers who took the stage throughout the evening included Paisley, Chaka KhanGladys KnightGreen DayJennifer HudsonMariah CareyRAYE and Stray Kids, with special appearances by many others. Watch clips of Brown’s AMAs performance below.
