A teenage gunman is in custody for allegedly murdering five people, including three children. Authorities in Fall City, Washington, were called to a home early Monday (October 21) after receiving reports of gunshots.
When officers arrived, they found a neighbor performing life-saving measures on one of the injured victims. Once they went inside, they found a grisly scene with five people dead from gunshot wounds.
Mike Mellis, a spokesman for the King County Sheriff's Office, said that all of the victims were related, explaining that it was "clearly a domestic violence incident that involves not only a young man who's now in significant trouble, it involves firearms. A young man and firearms."
He said the 15-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident.
"There was no significant confrontation with the young man that was taken into custody," Mellis said. "What had happened had happened. It was done."
No motive has been determined for the mass murder, which left the small town reeling.
"This morning, our community was struck by the devastating news of an incident in Fall City," Snoqualmie Valley School District Superintendent Dan Schlotfeldt said in a statement. "We currently understand that the family involved did not attend our schools, however, we recognize that events like this can affect all of us, including our students."
