Video footage shows a suspected drunk driver nearly driving into Vice President Kamala Harris' motorcade while traveling the wrong way on an interstate in downtown Milwaukee Monday (October 21).
The clip, which was shared by WISN, shows an SUV traveling westbound in eastbound lanes on Interstate 94 as it approaches the Harris motorcade. The vehicle was stopped by Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deputies as it drew closer to the motorcade, Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office spokesperson James Burnett confirmed to CNN.
Deputies suspected that the driver was impaired and found an open container of alcohol inside the SUV before conducting field sobriety tests and other measures for a DUI incident, Burnett confirmed.

No injuries were reported in relation to the incident. CNN said the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office deferred all additional questions about the motorcade incident to the United States Secret Service.
U.S. Secret Service spokesperson Joe Biesk confirmed that the agency was "aware of the incident involving a motorist traveling in the opposite direction on the highway while the Vice President was in her motorcade" in a statement shared to CNN.
“We are grateful to the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office for its response which allowed them to stop the motorist and take the driver into custody for DUI,” the statement reads.
Harris was campaigning in Waukesha County Monday night with former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, who has reached across party lines to endorse the vice president against Republican former President Donald Trump. Harris also made appearances in Pennsylvania and Michigan, both crucial swing states, this week.
