TreeHouse Foods, Inc. expanded their voluntary recall to include "frozen toaster waffle, Belgian waffle and pancake products" on Wednesday (October 23) due to the possibility of a Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

According to the United States Food & Drug Administration, the growing recall pertains specially to "all products manufactured at one facility" that are "still within their shelf-life."

Listeria monocytogenes are defined as "an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems." Healthy individuals might experience fever, nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and in more serious cases, miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The recalled products were distributed to every state (including Illinois) and are commonly found in: Albertsons, Kroger, Aldi, Publix, Walmart, Target, Dollar General, and more.

UPC and lot codes can be found on the back of the affected products listed on the FDA's website aside each Best By Date.

Health officials are urging consumers who previously purchased any of the recalled items on the list to either throw them away or return them to the place they purchased them for a full refund.

Individuals with questions can call "TreeHouse Foods at 1-800-596-2903, Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (CST)."
