Amy experienced her own personal "bonehead moment" after her car died on the side of the road.
Her car will notify her when she needs to refuel, but she knows she can still drive with it on empty for a little bit. Sometimes she pushes it days at a time knowing that when it says "refuel immediately," that's the last call. Amy's friend needed to borrow her car, so Amy told her it needed gas so she gave her the Costco card to fill up because she knew she would be near there.
Because Amy didn't tell her she didn’t need to get gas immediately, her friend ran another errand before going to get gas and she ran out and got stuck on the side of the road. Her friend sent a voice message explaining what happened and it became a whole ordeal. They were on the side of a narrow road causing traffic and they got a gas can and tried to fill it up, but it didn’t work. They ended up having to call a tow truck that took them to a gas station where she was able to fill up her car and it worked again.
In the end, it cost Amy more than just getting gas in the first place would’ve. The tow truck guy charged her $150, which she was grateful for because he originally told her he would charge more. She has learned from this and is now challenging herself to stop for gas when she has only a quarter tank left.
