By Tony M. Centeno
November 8, 2024
FERG takes fans on a deep dive of his personal life on his new album.
On Friday, November 8, the New York native released his new album DAROLD via RCA Records. His latest studio album comes with 15 tracks including previous singles "Allure" featuring Future & Mike WiLL Made-It and "Thought I Was Dead." Ferg also teams up with Coco Jones for their new collaboration "French Tips," which samples Brandy's "I Wanna Be Down." He also recruits DD Osama, Denzel Curry, Mary J. Blige, Dapper Dan and more to appear on the project.
"I gave people, A$AP Ferg, Hood Pope, Trap Lord," Ferg said in a video he posted to Instagram. "Now I want to give them the guy behind the guy. This record is definitely super personal. I'm touching on topics that I've never spoken about before."
The 36-year-old rapper explained that his new album title stems from his birth name, Darold Brown Ferguson. He also said he made the cover art for his album and individual tracks himself. You can see all of his new art pieces here.
"This album means the world to me !!!" he wrote in a separate post. "This is a literal work of art . I started painting again during the pandemic and flirted with the idea of doing my own cover art for my album . The therapeutic nature of brush on canvas put me in a zone and I decided Id just do all my single covers myself . The vibe was Fresh and I was back hooked on painting again."
FERG serves as the cover star for this week's Rap Rising playlist on iHeartRadio. In addition to songs from Ferg's new album, you can also find new music from Cordae, Real Boston Richey, Young Nudy and more. Stream the playlist above and check out more new music below.
