Elton John shared a sad health update — he's lost his eyesight following an eye infection.
Following his "The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical" charity gala performance in London, he addressed everyone at Dominion Theatre, explaining that even though he couldn't see the performance, he could listen, according to fan-captured video. He said, "As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight. I haven't been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it."
He added of the support of his husband, David Furnish, "To my husband, who's been my rock, because I haven't been able to come to many of the previews because as you know, I've lost my eyesight, so it's hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it. And, boy, it sounded good tonight!"

Just recently, Elton sat down with Good Morning America host Robin Roberts and shared that he could no longer see out of his right eye. He explained, "I had an infection in the South of France. It's been four months now since I haven't been able to see, and my left eye's not the greatest." He added, "
The music legend also shared of his ability to work on new music while experiencing his vision loss, "There's hope and encouragement that it will be OK. But, I'm kind of stuck at the moment."
Elton added, "I can’t see a lyric, for start. We’re taking an initiative to try and get it better, but at the moment, that’s really what we’re concentrating on. It’s never fortunate for anything like this to happen. It kinda floored me, and I can’t see anything. I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything."
