4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Reported

A 4.8-magnitude earthquake was reported in Portugal on Monday (February 17), according to the United States Geological Survey.
The earthquake was centered in Charneca de Caparica at a depth of 10 kilometers (about 6.2 miles). The USGS said it received 486 reports of people having felt the earthquake at the time of publication.
The Hayward earthquake was reported days after a 3.7-magnitude earthquake was reported in California on Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake was centered in Hayward, near the San Francisco area, at a depth of 7.0 kilometers (about 4.3 miles).
